Powerful by Lauren Roberts is a novella in the Powerless series. Paedyn's best friend Adena lived together in the slums untill Paedyn was selected for the Purging Trials. Adena alone learns to fend for herself with the help of Mak. Together the try to meet up with their loved ones one last time. I really enjoyed reading the book and the new characters/perspectives I brought. It was fun to read after Powerless and in tandem with Powerless. I liked how it added depth to Adena's character.

this book was cute! I really liked Emmy’s character growth and getting to see a character with ADHD and sensory issue, as I feel like I haven’t read a bunch about characters like her and I enjoyed the inclusivity. And per usual, I enjoyed the small town setting. For me, this book felt very rushed. I wanted more tension and banter and there wasn’t a lot of that. It felt like Emmy and Luke’s relationship was very fast paced. Also, I found this book to be unnecessarily smutty, and wasn’t a big fan of how the smut was played out and written, it was icky in my opinion. Other than that, I will probably continue on with the series as I really do like the characters.

I had a lot of emotions reading this, holy cow. okay I started reading this book in like mid July and could just not get into it for the life me. Once the book picked up it was really good, but the first 150 pages were a lot to get through. I really enjoyed the new characters and getting to watch them develop. I hated cat at first but now I really like her, and I felt the same way with Sloane. I was really happy that there was more moments with the core four in this book. And I am really liking seeing Rhiannon in leadership (lowkey a little in love with her). Speaking of the core four, towards the end Sawyer had me stressing out. Honestly, I enjoyed getting to learn more about the runes and more about the other provinces and their history. I found the new edition‘s of different types of magic confusing at first, but now I like them. The one thing I don’t get, and don’t think I ever will understand, is the shields. Someone please explain to me how that works, cause it makes zero sense to me, but at the same time they live in a world with dragons so. I despised Varrish, well I mean everyone does. The torture scene with Violet. HOLY FREAKING HECK, I did NOT like that. NUH UH. The Liam hallucinations made me tear up, every time his name was mentioned I shredded a tear. The only good thing that came from Varrish is Dain stabbing him. I am really happy Dain is redeeming himself. Also the moments between the siblings, especially when they reunited before Mira punched Brennan were so good. While I’m talking about the Sorrengails, General Sorrengails death made me more upset than it should had. I don’t know where I even begin on the ending. The ending is probably the part that confused me the most because I don’t necessarily understand how Xaden turned into venin. Never the less, it still made me really upset. Also, what do you mean and Andarna waited SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS TO HATCH? That part shocked me. ALSO, Xadens second signet?! Overall, this book wasn’t as good as the first one, but I definitely enjoyed it.

May be a bit hard to understand compared to the authors other books but a good read worth reading if you are into spy movies or action. The romance was okay but not that descriptive and mostly focuses on the characters confusion and inner turmoil. I recommend it to anyone who likes justice, inner humanity, and dystopian series which revolves around politics and social justice. I really liked this book but it is very confusing in the beginning so unless you don't like to solve hidden meanings of words don't read it. This story delves into the world of privilege, status, and science so to readers who like this genre. What are you waiting for?

Restart by Gordon Korman touches on many sensitive topics such as bullying, peer pressure, toxic friendships, and family conflict. If you have trouble reading about this topic I would highly recommend not reading this book. Chase Ambrose is the star-player of the foot team. He’s popular. He’s mean. He’s a jock. He gets away with things because he’s good at sports. Some people want to be his friend. Some people are so afraid of him they hide when they see him coming. Chase wakes up in the hospital after falling off his roof. He doesn’t remember that or anything about his past. Such as being the school bully and pulling pranks on classmates. Once he gets back to school he has a hard time figuring out who his friends are, what he likes, what he dislikes, what he’s good at, what he’s bad at, etc. Chase's supposed best friends Aaron and Bear tell him about his past life but he doesn’t know if he thinks it’s as cool as his friends think or he used to think. As the story progresses, he realizes that he may not be at all what his friends tell him he is. The only thing I take into issue with this book is that I found it a little too neatly wrapped and that the author didn’t develop the characters as well as he did with Chase’s character. Which is why I rate this book 4 stars. Restart is the first book I ever read by Gordon Korman. I really liked how relatable this book was. This book has the perfect amount of wit and mystery to make sure you read every single page of the book. I would highly recommend this book to young readers!

The book starts off with a 14 year old girl named Harbour Mandrayke camping in a park ravine in Toronto, Ontario. It’s the middle of summer and Harbour has enough tuna and crackers to keep her and her pet dog Tuff Stuff (Tuff for short) going for a good few weeks. Her dad picked this spot and is on his way from Florida with their live aboard boat. The weeks eventually turn into months and Harbour is starting to get worried. Adding to her worries, her dad’s credit card stops working, he stops answering her phone calls, and she runs out of money. The only thing keeping her and Tuff sane is a friend they made named Lise. Lise is a teenaged homeless girl living in the streets. She knows the ins and outs of living on the streets helping and teaching Harbour about life as a homeless person. Lise lives in the homeless shelter but Harbour can’t live in the shelter because of Tuff. Life just seems to be getting harder for Harbour as she is running low on food and the harsh Canadian winter unravels. This book is full of many heartfelt and witty moments that made up for the tear dropping and chest aching moments. While reading this book I got a better understanding of how the homeless survive; like finding food, figuring out where to spend the night, trying to stay clean, and working towards homelessness. There was also an element of mental illness in the book which I really liked. The only thing that I really disliked about this book was that the plot was a little too happy and the ending was very fantastical. Which is why I rated the book 4 stars.
