Hardy Boys 26: The Phantom Freighter

I love the Hardy Boys series, but this is one of the few books that I disliked. The plot is all over the place, and the freighter trip that the characters are planing only starts in chapter XVIII. The book is not the best, but it still might be enjoyed. I highly recommend checking out other books in the series!

This book was very interesting with a lot of twist plots. I love how Dash figures out the puzzle every time. This whole series has been very interesting, and has kept me reading nonstop!

One Brother Shy
by Terry Fallis

One Brother Shy by Terry Fallis is a life-like story following Alex MacASkill, a chronically shy software engineer in his twenties, on a mission around the world to find and reunite family he didn't even know existed until after the unfortunate passing of his mother. Haunted by a traumatic high school experience known only as 'Gabriel', he learns about identity and the importance of family. I personally think Terry Fallis outdid himself with this novel. It is funny, heart-wrenching, sensitive and full of twists, much like its main protagonist, Alex and his journey. Unlike other books, One Brother Shy is fast-paced, but makes sure not to pass over important details to the plot. Honestly, it lets you fill in the puzzle pieces along with Alex. Lastly, the format of this book is unlike any other. A notable example is the name of the chapters. Instead of something that would describe the chapter itself, Terry Fallis gives us crucial information about why Alex acts the way he does - shy and reluctant to talk to people. I recommend this book to those that enjoy sad but comical novels as well as those who just want to read a down-to-earth story. One Brother Shy has a bit of everything; facial recognition technology, to hockey, to spies, a bit of romance, and even a touch of real life historical events. It's really a rollercoaster of emotions, and if you are looking for a book to read, look no further than One Brother Shy by Terry Fallis.
